contact: info@arteles.org

Arteles is calling creative professionals from all fields of visual arts, music & sound art, literature, performing arts, design, philosophy & research to join the Arteles Residency Program.

In the selection process an emphasis is put on the maturity of the applicant´s conceptual approach. We are looking for applications from established professionals but we also like to keep a few positions open for persons without a remarkable creative background or notable education. In this case the proposed idea/approach of the applicant has a significant importance.

The jury is open to raw ideas and long term 'work in progress'
approaches as we understand that certain projects, especially the ones which need participation by others or which are site-spesific, may change and live a lot along the way.

Future-/environmental-/media-/interdisciplinary-oriented projects & ideas are very welcome.

The future scene of arts; the new and fresh ways to be creative feed our curiosity - the new methodologies, approaches and perspectives...
The use and integration of modern day possibilities offered by technology, www, apps & programs (e.g. Max/msp) and by globalization & new lifestyles.

The local environment has lots of natural materials and outdoor possibilities to offer. The region has its own environmental art history through the works of Nancy Holt (Up and Under) and Agnes Denes (Tree Mountain).

For media projects we have some special possibilities to offer such as FM radio and live web broadcasts.

We are also open for couples, collectives and groups. Everything is about the enthusiastic new idea what you will propose.

What we are looking for:

Surprising and compelling project proposals

A strong desire to develop one?s artistic/creative career

Interesting personalities

An applicant who will contribute to Arteles vision and its community

Costume Designers Wanted

This coming June 3rd is the Mosaic LA Film Festival Event: Journeys by Land and by Scene. I can guarantee you it will be nothing like any film festival you have attended or can imagine. One of the highlights is a runway show featuring various costumes used in a short film. If you would like to design a costume or mask and be considered to be a part of this event, please contact morgan@mosaic.org. Great chance to design something fantastical.

If you are interested in being a part of this new, experimental adventure and may not be a costume designer or hesitant to create a mask, please contact me and I will most definitely plug you into something amazing!

Cafe job opportunity

We are looking for a part-time to full-time barista for The Ragazzi Room—an independent coffee house near USC. It’s not your average barista job.

This is the perfect opportunity for a creative, motivated individual to make a mark on a local community. The café has just been reconceptualized by volunteers (professional community members and USC students – architects, designers, artists, chefs, builders, and other creative people) together with the owner. The space itself was given a facelift. We are looking for someone to further the vision of a creative, beautiful and sustainable café in South LA.

-- Candidates need not be already trained baristas but experience is preferred.
-- Ideal qualities: creative, independent, hard working, energetic, people savvy, punctual, reliable
-- Tasks include not only regular barista duties but also providing insight into how to make our space better and better. Part of your job will include conceptualizing more economical ways of organizing the kitchen and the workflow, coming up with creative uses of the space, event planning and looking for new ways to market to and communicate with the local community.

Pay is $8/hour, however there are opportunities for pay increases based on how well the café meets its monthly revenue targets. If you are interested in this position, please contact Jay Jung at (213) 741-1723 during normal business hours.
